We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support in 2007. Through donations, sponsorships, volunteers, and emotional support, we were able to raise over $15,000.00 to give back to our community, which will promote youth safety and scholastics in Medway. Our hope is to eventually help support many communities throughout New England.

We thank you for supporting the First Annual Alex Handy Memorial Golf Tournament and the First Annual Alex's Run to the Heaven’s (Motorcycle Run).

Part of the proceeds from your support through donations and event sponsorships have gone to, but are not limited to the following:

* Painting the "legal" crosswalks in town with "PROJECTALEX" in powder blue to help better public awareness

 * The First Annual Free Spirit Awards were given out on scholastic night at the Medway Junior High school based on best example competition of youth safety and scholastics. Brian Schofield, Rachel Vanetzien, Alyssa Huckins, and Stella Butcher were awarded with Savings Bonds and American Express Gift Cards.

* The First Annual Free Spirit College Scholarship Awards were given out on scholastic night at the Medway High School based on best example competition of youth safety and scholastics. The $1,000 college scholarships were presented to students: Garreth Evers and J.P. East.

* PROJECT ALEX provided a donation to RIF(Reading is Fundamental) in support of the Medway Elementary school system.

* PROJECT ALEX is currently sponsoring the weight lifting room at the Medway High School so that it may be open after school during the winter months to help provide an additional safe environment for students.

News and Notes

* A donation of two bicycles, courtesy of Milford Bicycles, were raffled off at the end of the 2006-2007 school year (Medway Middle School and Clyde Brown Middle School in Millis).

* The Medway Police Station continues to give away free helmets to any child that is in need of one.

* Project Alex is currently working with Medway Middle School and the Medway High School for ways to contribute to any youth safety and or scholastic program. Please let us know if you have any suggestions. A long-term goal that we are working towards is to build The Alex Handy Memorial Skateboard Park, which will offer the Medway Youth an alternative to parking lots and streets.

* Ann Handy of the foundation has been working with Junior High Schools in the metrowest area. In tandem with the Medway Police department and officer Grimes, she has given several inspirational speeches through her personal experience, to help encourage youth safety to our students and the entire community.

* The 2008 Free Spirit Award College Scholarships will be increased to $2,500.

* We are looking forward to the Second Annual Alex's Run to the Heaven's (motorcycle run) and will post the information when available.
